Crossplay
Crossplay servers are launched with -publiclobby and CrossplayPlatforms=(Steam,Xbox,PS5,Mac).
Console players (Xbox, PS5) can only join community (public-lobby) servers, and do so via the
in-game server browser rather than a direct-connect string.
Where these live in the app
Two separate controls, and both matter:
- Public lobby is the switch in the Create server dialog (see
Your First Server). It’s off by default. It’s what adds
-publiclobbyto the server’s launch, which is what puts the server in the in-game community browser at all. - CrossplayPlatforms is an ordinary key on the server’s Settings tab, in the GENERAL
section. Its default is
(Steam,Xbox,PS5,Mac), so a public-lobby server accepts every platform unless you narrow that tuple yourself.
If friends cannot find or join the server
Check that Public lobby is enabled and that CrossplayPlatforms includes each friend’s platform. Restart after changing launch options or server settings. A community listing does not prove that the game port is reachable from outside your network; PalCommand’s Network checks are local checks, as explained in the FAQ.
Pocketpair also documents that routers without hairpin NAT cannot connect to a community server hosted on the same network. Test from a separate network before treating that symptom as a server configuration failure.
These requirements were checked against Pocketpair’s 1.0.3 documentation on 5 September 2026: server types and supported platforms, community-server setup and hairpin NAT, and CrossplayPlatforms. PalCommand has not independently verified console joining in a live crossplay test.
